GitHub Pages hosts static websites free straight from a GitHub repository.

What you can do with it

  • Host a portfolio or project site
  • Publish documentation
  • Run a blog with Jekyll
  • Use a custom domain with HTTPS

Good to know

It's free for public repositories. It only serves static files, so it doesn't run PHP or databases. Name a repository username.github.io to get a personal site at that address, and add a custom domain later if you want.
