The idea is simple: divide the day into three equal blocks.
8 hours: focused work
Work with discipline on what moves your goals forward. Protect your two or three most important tasks of the day from interruptions.
8 hours: good sleep
Sleep isn't wasted time — it's when your body recovers and your memory files the day. Keep a regular bedtime and keep screens out of the last 30 minutes.
8 hours: everything that makes life worth it
This block covers three groups of three:
- 3 Fs – Family, Friends, Faith. Time with the people and beliefs that hold you up.
- 3 Hs – Health, Hygiene, Hobby. Exercise, look after yourself, and do something just because you enjoy it.
- 3 Ss – Soul, Service, Smile. Quiet reflection, helping others, and lightness.
Making it real
- Business owners rarely get a neat 8-hour workday. Treat 8+8+8 as a weekly average, not a daily rule.
- Commuting and chores eat into the "life" block — batch them where you can.
- If you only fix one thing, fix sleep. Every other block works better after it.
Quick self-check
Track one normal week. If work is 12 hours and sleep is 5, you've found what to change first.
