Searching your own name can turn up your phone number, home address or email. Google offers a free tool to request removal.
1. Open "Results About You"
Go to Results About You (or search "Results about you" in Google), sign in and click Get started.
2. Add your contact details
Enter your name, address, phone number and email. Google uses them only to scan results for matches.
3. Review and request removals
Google shows results containing your details. Tap the menu next to a result and choose Remove result. You can turn on alerts for new matches.
4. Remove other sensitive content
For pages showing ID numbers, bank details, private images or other sensitive personal information, use Google's removal request form with the page URL and a screenshot.
What removal actually means
- It hides the result in Google search only. The page itself still exists.
- It may still appear on Bing, DuckDuckGo and others.
- To remove it completely, contact the website owner and ask them to take it down.
Extra privacy steps
- Check Have I Been Pwned for leaked email addresses
- Set social-media profiles to private and remove your phone number from public bios
- Use a separate email for sign-ups — or a Temp Mail address
Feature availability can vary by country.
