Too many good contractors still lose jobs because the quote came on a scrap of paper or in a long WhatsApp message. A neat estimate makes you look serious, and it stops arguments later about what was and wasn't included.
This sheet is set up the way small jobs actually get priced in Jamaica. List each item, say if it's material, labour or equipment, put in the quantity and price, and the sheet does the maths. It splits your materials and labour so the client can see where the money goes.
What you can do with it
- Price block work, roofing, tiling, plumbing, painting or any renovation job
- Add a contingency for price changes (it's set to 10%, but you can change it)
- Show the deposit needed to start, so there's no confusion on day one
- Print it, or save as PDF and send it straight to the client on WhatsApp
- Keep a copy of every quote so you can check your prices on the next job
Good to know
- Only fill the light-yellow cells. Everything else works itself out.
- The three example lines and their prices are only there to show you how it works, so clear them before you use it.
- Leave GCT at 0% unless you're registered. If you are, set it to 15%.
- Material prices move fast. Put a "valid until" date on every quote (it's already there, set to 30 days).
- Works in Excel, Google Sheets and the free LibreOffice.
